Rose, new Egyptian chariot build

On a previous page I’ve shown my Rose miniatures Egyptian chariot. My good friend Brian sent me the elements of another one. It was almost complete as can be seen in the photo on the right of what I have to start with. Most of it is there, but there is some damage to the horses, I need a new archer and the chariot pole has to be mended.

The next photo shows the progress I have made to date. All the elements are now there. The horses are repaired, painted and glued to the base. the chariot is assembled and has the base colours added. The driver has a new shield and I have found a new figure that I have converted to be the archer. Thats as far as I’ve got at the moment. I will add updates as the build progresses. I estimate it will take a couple more weeks to finish. Click to enlarge images

So, this is my next post, only a few days have passed since the last photo. Chariot is more or less finished, just a bit more painting to do. the driver is also almost finished, I’ve added a Rose axe into his hand and paint is almost done. Beginning the archer figure. The reins have been cut from brass shim and will be attached to the horses mouths, as I put it all together I will gradually feed them across to the driver.

This is now almost finished, just a few elements to add to the build, and the groundwork. Then I will post the finished model alongside my other Rose chariot. The archer figure is not a Rose figure. The chariot comes with the Pharaoh archer, but I didnt want another one, so I opted for a figure that represented perhaps a hostage prince in the Pharaoh’s court, maybe Crete or one of the eastern med. islands. (sea people?), in Egyptian dress.
