Sanquez. Army of Carlos V. Part 2

This is the second post dedicated to this range of figures. The first concentrated on the foot figures, now we have the mounted figures. Again, I am showing single examples of those I possess, there are many, many more I haven’t managed to collect yet. Sanquez has used a single horse casting for all these figures and soldered all the separate trappings and harness to depict the different types. The lead reins were always a weak spot; being heavy and often loose, for the mounted Landsknecht officer this has been replaced by a better thinner one. This has been done by the maker; I bought it mint in box and it may be of late production. A great deal of work that has gone into making the knight with full heraldic trappings. So let’s start with the Holy Roman Emperor himself; Carlos V. Haughty and successful, as were his armies; colourful, brimming with confidence.

And one of his knights in full regalia, perhaps one of the Spanish orders of chivalry. click and look at the close-up, you can see how all the trappings have been soldered seperately onto the figure.

One of a number of standards that were made, all hand painted, moulded lead sheet. All these figures are completely original.

A knight to accompany the one above, and a mounted guard.

Finally, for the mounted figures, the Landskecht Captains; the first is the Captain of the dark liveried mercenary Landsknechts with an adage shield on his back, and the other is a flamboyant officer of the other Landsknechts, notice the improved reins.

Finally a group of Artillery train servants, notice how in all the figures the eyes are painted to look to the left or right, not just directly ahead, one day I will find one of the artillery pieces. One click enlarges any image.
